What Are the Four Phases of the Change Enthusiasm® Methodology?

By Cassandra Worthy

The Change Enthusiasm® methodology moves organizations through four phases: Introduce, Investigate, Immerse, and Integrate. Each phase builds on the one before it, moving from initial awareness to a sustained, embedded practice.

Here's what happens at each stage.

Phase 1: Introduce

This is where the methodology enters the organization, typically through a keynote or activation experience that reshapes people's understanding of the relationship between emotion and change.

The goal at this stage isn't behavior change yet. It's awareness.

People leave with a shared language for something they were likely already feeling but hadn't had the vocabulary to name, and a more confident starting point for whatever change is ahead.

Phase 2: Investigate

Once the organization has a shared language, the next phase is understanding where things actually stand. This happens through:

  • The Change Growth Scorecard™, a short electronic survey that measures emotional culture across regions, functions, and teams.
  • Change Growth Discovery™, one-on-one interviews with selected leaders that surface the narratives and emotional dynamics data alone won't capture
  • roadmapping session, where the findings from both get translated into a practical, people-centered plan.

This phase exists because most organizations skip straight to solutions without ever confirming what the actual problem is. Investigate makes sure the plan that follows is built on real data, not assumptions.

Phase 3: Immerse

This is where the work becomes skill-building.

Teams move through a structured curriculum, delivered by Certified Change Enthusiast® Facilitators, that builds practical tools, shared language, and the ability to process emotional responses to change more quickly and effectively.

Immerse is the longest and most hands-on phase, because skill-building takes repetition.

A single keynote can shift awareness. It can't build a durable capability on its own.

Phase 4: Integrate

The final phase is about sustainment. Selected leaders go through Change Growth Coaching™, paired with an organization-tailored plan, to ensure the work doesn't fade once the initial engagement ends.

This phase also connects leaders to CEG's broader community of certified practitioners, so the practice continues to be reinforced well past the formal engagement.

Why the Sequence Matters

Skipping phases is the most common way this kind of work fails to stick.

An organization that jumps straight to Immerse without first completing Investigate ends up training people on a generic curriculum instead of one calibrated to their actual emotional culture. One that stops after Introduce gets a memorable keynote and nothing that changes behavior six months later.

Change Enthusiasm Global built the four phases to work as a sequence specifically because change readiness isn't built in a single session. It's built in stages, each one setting up the next.

Where to Start

If you're not sure which phase is the right entry point for your organization, the Change Growth Scorecard™ is usually the fastest way to find out, since it tells you where your organization actually stands before you commit to a full engagement.

You can see how this has played out for other organizations in our case studies, and leaders looking to build these skills individually can start with the Change Growth Accelerator™.

What’s the Difference Between Change Management and Change Enthusiasm®?

Change management is the process of planning, communicating, and executing organizational change. Change Enthusiasm® is the methodology for working with the emotions that determine whether people actually adopt that change. One is the plan. The other is what makes the plan work.
